Green Star Polyps (GSP)
Green Star Polyps are a vibrant and fast-growing soft coral known for their bright fluorescent green polyps and flowing, grass-like appearance. Once established, the polyps create constant movement in the aquarium and can quickly form an impressive carpet across rockwork.
GSP is generally considered a hardy and beginner-friendly coral, tolerating a reasonably wide range of lighting and flow conditions. However, its rapid growth means placement should be considered carefully.
Care Guide
Care Level: Easy
Lighting: Low–Moderate
PAR: Approx. 50–150
Flow: Moderate
Placement: Lower–Middle areas of the aquarium
Temperament: Peaceful, but highly invasive
Feeding: Primarily photosynthetic
Growth: Fast
Recommended Parameters
Temperature: 24–26°C
Salinity: 1.025–1.026 SG
Alkalinity: 7.5–9 dKH
Calcium: 400–450 ppm
Magnesium: 1250–1400 ppm
Nitrate: 2–15 ppm
Phosphate: 0.03–0.10 ppm
For easier control, we recommend placing Green Star Polyps on an isolated piece of rock away from the main reef structure. Their purple mat can spread rapidly onto neighbouring rockwork and may eventually compete for space with slower-growing corals.
Moderate, varied flow helps keep the colony clean while producing the characteristic swaying movement that makes GSP so attractive.
An excellent choice for beginners or anyone looking to add bright colour, movement and quick coverage to their reef.
Colour and polyp extension can vary depending on lighting, flow and individual aquarium conditions.
