Bubble Coral
Bubble Coral is a distinctive LPS coral, instantly recognisable by its large, inflated bubble-like vesicles. When fully expanded it creates an impressive amount of movement and volume, making it an excellent feature coral for the lower areas of a reef aquarium.
Bubble Corals generally appreciate moderate lighting and gentle, indirect flow. Excessive flow can prevent the tissue from fully inflating or cause the delicate flesh to rub against the skeleton.
Care Guide
Care Level: Easy–Moderate
Lighting: Low–Moderate
PAR: Approx. 60–150
Flow: Low–Moderate, indirect
Placement: Lower–Middle areas of the aquarium
Temperament: Semi-aggressive
Feeding: Photosynthetic; occasional meaty foods can support growth
Growth: Moderate under stable conditions
Recommended Parameters
Temperature: 24–26°C
Salinity: 1.025–1.026 SG
Alkalinity: 7.5–9 dKH
Calcium: 400–450 ppm
Magnesium: 1250–1400 ppm
Nitrate: 2–15 ppm
Phosphate: 0.03–0.10 ppm
Allow plenty of space around Bubble Coral, as it can extend surprisingly long sweeper tentacles, particularly after lights out, which may sting neighbouring corals.
For best results, provide stable water chemistry and enough gentle movement to keep the coral clean without aggressively pushing its inflated tissue around.
Coral appearance, expansion and colour intensity can vary depending on lighting, flow and individual aquarium conditions.
